Hot Hot Hot

Ustrasana*

... yoga.

Tonight, we three sisters are going to make an evening of Bikram Yoga. It's a type of yoga that is done in a heated room for 90 minutes. By heated, I mean 105F. The heat is supposed to loosen muscles and increase temperature and metabolism allowing you to exercise deeper and create a 'cardio' workout that helps you to tone and lose weight. Not to mention the fact that there is no room to worry about life in general when you're so completely concentrated on how damn hot it is, the sweat pouring down your face and ass crack, holding the pose and when you're supposed to inhale and exhale.

Seriously though. I am really looking forward to doing this... to doing something for me.

Things like 'practicing stillness', calm and development of body and mind appeal to me. This time I plan to make a commitment to it and make a habit of it. There. See? I said it, so now I have to do it.

*although, I may need to sit this one out.

Heck, woman, you live in Arizona! You can do this in your own backyard almost any day of the week from May through October. Sweat away - hope you enjoy!

I have a friend that does Bikram - not for me, no ma'am! Yoga is hard enough, I don't need to add sweating (which I really hate doing) and barely being able to breathe! But good luck to you :-)

Sounds interesting. I could never do it. I can hardly breathe just sitting in a sauna. Let alone trying to move!

I did Yoga for a while, but it's been a while. Not the Birkam stuff. I sweat enough as it is. I can't imagine sweating and trying to keep still.

I used to be able to do that Ustrasana thing. It's calming. I remember driving home slower than I usually did. Of course, around here that peace lasts about a half hour!

I love yoga, but haven't been able to do it much since the kids got home. I've never tried Bikram though -nit sounds like it would give me a headache! What did you think of it?
